If you listen to everyone out there, you would think that no homes sell during the holidays, but actually thousands of homes will sell this holiday season. Here are ten reasons why it may make sense for your family NOT to wait until spring to list your home:

  1. Fewer homes on the market this time of year mean less competition for you.
  2. Buyers this time of year are serous buyers (relocation, their home sold, etc.)
  3. The best agents continue to work during the holidays.
  4. December and January are the busiest time of year for corporate relocation.
  5. If it does not sell during the holidays, you are ahead of others in early spring.
  6. Buyers are more courteous and sensitive to scheduling appointments during the holidays.
  7. Homes “show better” when decorated during the holiday season and appeal to buyers emotions.
  8. Some people must buy before the end of the year for tax reasons.
  9. In the spring, there will be dramatically more listings competing with your home. More competition = less money for you.
  10. By selling now, you may have the opportunity to be a non-contingent buyer during the spring, when many more houses are on the market to choose from!
